Editorial Policy

How we research, write, and maintain our content - and what standards we hold ourselves to.

Our Sources

Where Our Information Comes From

  • U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA.gov)
  • Celiac Disease Foundation (celiac.org)
  • Beyond Celiac (beyondceliac.org)
  • Official manufacturer ingredient & allergen statements
  • Product packaging and label disclosures
  • USDA FoodData Central
  • Peer-reviewed celiac and dietary research (referenced where applicable)

How We Research Each Guide

Every food guide on Gluveto begins with primary source research. We start with the ingredient itself - its botanical origin, processing method, and natural gluten status - before considering how it behaves in real-world products.

We then review current FDA guidelines on gluten-free labeling, assess documented cross-contamination risks, and check manufacturer allergen statements for popular product variants. Where relevant, we reference published celiac research and guidance from established organisations.

We do not rely on forums, general health blogs, or unverified crowd-sourced information as primary sources. If a claim can't be traced to a primary source, we don't publish it.

Ingredient Verification Process

For each ingredient, we verify: (1) whether the base ingredient naturally contains gluten, (2) whether standard processing methods introduce gluten risk, and (3) whether common commercial products made with that ingredient carry cross-contamination warnings.

We check for hidden gluten sources including wheat derivatives, barley malt, brewer's yeast, modified food starch (wheat-based), hydrolyzed wheat protein, and malt flavoring - all of which appear under names that aren't immediately recognisable as gluten.

Where a product's formulation varies by region or manufacturer, we note that variation rather than giving a single blanket answer.

How We Handle Updates

Food formulations change. Manufacturers update facilities, reformulate products, and revise allergen statements - sometimes without public announcement. We treat our content as living documents, not static publications.

When we become aware of a material change - through a reader notification, a label change we identify, or updated guidance from a regulatory body - we revise the affected content and update the 'last reviewed' date on that page.

We do not guarantee real-time accuracy. Readers are encouraged to verify product labels at time of purchase, particularly for items with cross-contamination risk.

Corrections & Accuracy

We take accuracy seriously and correct errors transparently. If you believe something on this site is factually incorrect, outdated, or misleading, please contact us at hello@gluveto.com with the relevant page URL, the specific claim in question, and your source if available.

We review all correction requests and respond where we can. When a material correction is made, we update the content. We do not quietly delete or alter content to hide prior errors - if a significant correction is warranted, we note it within the article.

Editorial Independence

Our editorial content is not influenced by advertisers, sponsors, or affiliate relationships. The presence of a product mention or brand link does not indicate a commercial relationship, and our assessments of safety or suitability are made independently of any commercial consideration.

Where the site uses affiliate links (such as to retailer product pages), we will disclose this in line with FTC guidelines. Affiliate relationships do not affect our editorial conclusions.

We do not accept payment for positive coverage, sponsored reviews disguised as editorial content, or any arrangement that would compromise the integrity of our research.
